Imperia - the city with two souls It is amazing how easy it is to fall in love with some cities that show a double soul, like Imperia. The city is famous for its oil and pasta production, but how can one remain immune to its territorial charm and the sea that lies, like a carpet, at its feet? Discovering Imperia is a real adventure, but know that it is famous because it is known as: the city of 2 souls. The reason is that it is made up of 2 city cores that are different but continuous. There is Porto Maurizio and Oneglia. Both have their own port, their own patron saint, their own economy and their own history. However, the two nuclei later merged into one large city, namely Imperia. Porta Maurizio is famous for the Cathedral of San Maurizio, which is the largest church in Liguria with an extension of 3000 square metres from which there is a beautiful view of the sea. An entire quarter used to belong entirely to the Duomo. It is adjacent to the historic village of Parasio. The second most interesting part of Imperia and Oneglia. Let us say that this is the most inland area, although you can still see the sea. The historic centre is full of small alleys and squares where there are many small green areas. One of the most important beauties of the town is located right here, we are talking about Villa Grock- Museo del Clown where you can find a large fountain pool, with a small bridge and colonnades. Its style is really peculiar, but unique as a genre. In any case, the most interesting places are the Santa chiara loggias, the Olive Museum, Borgo Parasio, the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista and Borgo Foci.
